Two girls want to buy something in an accessory store in Afghanistan, but they have no money. The store owner wants to give them what they want in exchange for certain services. His action was recorded by the store's surveillance camera.

The video in which he abused the girls was uploaded to TikTok and was viewed by many. The video was also seen by the girls' father, who subsequently shot his daughters.

The store owner was reportedly beheaded by angry people. More is not known. We would welcome tips on this case!

Questions about honour killings

  • refuses to cooperate in an arranged marriage.

  • wants to end the relationship.

  • was the victim of rape or sexual assault.

  • was accused of having a sexual relationship outside of marriage.

Human rights activists believe that 100,000 honour killings are carried out every year, most of which are not reported to the authorities and some are even deliberately covered up by the authorities themselves, for example because the perpetrators are good friends with local policemen, officials or politicians. Violence against girls and women remains a serious problem in Pakistan, India, Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, Iran, Serbia and Turkey.
